CANIDEX

For operators of event calendars

Your events in the CANIDEX calendar – with your permission.

CANIDEX Events shows dog events from around the world in one place. To do this, we sync public calendars of kennel clubs, breed clubs and trial portals every night. If your calendar is blocked or your terms of use do not allow automated access, we take nothing – until you explicitly agree.

Our user agent

How to recognise us

Every request carries this user agent. The link in it leads to this page.

CANIDEX-Core/1.0 (+https://www.canidex.cloud/kalender-abgleich)

In your robots.txt, address us with the name “CANIDEX-Core”.

How we work

Polite, sparing and transparent.

  • Your rules applyWe respect your robots.txt and your terms of use. We never bypass protections such as access checks, captchas or logins.
  • Once per nightAt most one sync per night, with pauses between requests. We honour any crawl-delay in your robots.txt.
  • Event data onlyType, date, venue, organiser, closing date, cancellation or “fully booked”. Personal details only if you explicitly want them shown.
  • You remain the sourceEvery event names you as the source and links to your site. Entries and everything else stay with you.

How to allow us access

We do not retrieve a blocked calendar without your consent. You can allow it in three ways – choose whichever is easiest for you.

Allow it in robots.txt

Add a separate section for us – for the whole site or just for your calendar. Examples are below.

Agree by email

Write to data@canidex.cloud and tell us which pages we may retrieve. If your terms of use prohibit automated access, we need your consent this way.

File or interface

Prefer that we do not retrieve your pages? We also accept your events as a calendar file (iCal), an export (CSV or JSON) or via an interface.

CANIDEX only, whole site:

User-agent: CANIDEX-Core
Allow: /

CANIDEX only, just your calendar (adjust the path):

User-agent: CANIDEX-Core
Allow: /events/
Disallow: /

Write “CANIDEX-Core” without a version number, i.e. not “CANIDEX-Core/1.0”. Upper and lower case do not matter.

For CANIDEX, the section for us replaces the rules under “User-agent: *”. Anything we should still not retrieve must be listed there with “Disallow”. Nothing changes for other crawlers.

Once you have allowed access, let us know briefly at data@canidex.cloud – we will then add your calendar to the sync.

Objection

You no longer want to be synced?

You can object at any time, without giving a reason. The easiest way is to block us in your robots.txt:

User-agent: CANIDEX-Core
Disallow: /

From the next sync on, we will no longer retrieve your calendar – within two days at the latest, as we cache robots.txt for one day. If you also want the events already taken over to be removed, write to us at data@canidex.cloud.

Questions about the calendar sync?

Write to us – we answer personally and as quickly as possible. Or see how events look in the CANIDEX calendar.
